Rebecca Friedrichs: ‘No School Kid Should Be Forced To Leave His Belief In God At The Bus Stop’
ORANGE COUNTY, CA — Rebecca Friedrichs releases the following statement after the Trump administration announced Thursday it is safeguarding the constitutional right to prayer and religious expression in public schools:
“Freedom-from-religion fanatics controlling our education system have bullied America’s educators to believe that public schools are religious-free zones and that teachers must stifle students’ religious freedoms or lose their jobs. Because of those lies, many students have been denied the right to pray, to host religious clubs on campus, or even to express their deeply held views in their assignments.
“That’s why the Trump administration was right to update Federal guidance on protected prayer and religious expression in public schools undoing discriminatory Obama-era guidelines that led to gross First Amendment violations against students, teachers, and families.
“It baffles me the lengths taken by the far-left to keep Bibles out of the hands of students who would dare to practice their faith during the school day or — the horrors! — bow their heads in humble prayer. No matter how great the desire by those on the Left, no school kid should be forced to leave his belief in God at the bus stop.”
Rebecca Friedrichs is the founder of For Kids & Country, author of Standing Up to Goliath, and a 28-year public school teacher who led the fight against the divisive tactics, politics and corruption of teachers’ unions as lead plaintiff in Friedrichs v CTA. Her U.S. Supreme Court case paved the way for a precedent-setting ruling which freed all public sector employees from forced unionism. Her PragerU video “Why Good Teachers Want School Choice” has over 5 million views.
For Kids & Country is a non-profit organization founded by former public school teacher Rebecca Friedrichs whose mission is to educate and empower teachers, parents, students, faith leaders and citizens in the fight to restore proper authority, excellence and safety in America’s schools and culture.
